2. Scope of Services

Our services include:

  • Furniture assembly and disassembly for residential, commercial, and large-scale projects (including STR setups and new construction)

We do not offer:

  • Long-distance interstate transport

  • Certified fire inspections or code compliance services

3. Customer Responsibilities & Site Conditions

Customer agrees to provide accurate and complete information regarding the scope of work, inventory, and site conditions. Estimates and planning are based on the details provided by the customer. If actual conditions differ from those disclosed, additional time, labor, or adjustments may be required.

Access Conditions & Stairways
Customer agrees to accurately disclose all access conditions at both pickup and delivery locations, including but not limited to stairways (number of flights, straight vs. turning stairs, spiral stairs, indoor or outdoor stairs), narrow staircases, steep stairs, low ceilings, tight landings, elevators, and entry limitations. Undisclosed access challenges may result in additional labor time, or inability to safely move certain items.

Interior Obstacles & Tight Spaces
Customer agrees to disclose any interior constraints that may impact safe transport of items, including narrow hallways, tight doorways, sharp turns, low ceilings, or restricted maneuvering areas. Off Duty Jobs is not responsible for delays, added labor, or inability to move items due to undisclosed spatial limitations.

Distance & Carry Conditions
Customer agrees to disclose estimated distances from the truck parking area to building entrances. Long carry distances, limited parking, gated access, or restricted loading areas may increase labor time.

Packing & Item Preparation
Customer is responsible for ensuring all items are boxed, bagged, or otherwise prepared for safe transport unless packing services are specifically arranged in advance. Off Duty Jobs is not responsible for damage to items that are not properly packed or secured, including loose contents inside drawers, containers, or furniture.

Appliance Disconnection & Reconnection

Customer is responsible for informing Off Duty Jobs in advance if appliance disconnection or reconnection services are requested. While Off Duty Jobs may perform basic disconnection and reconnection of appliances (including water, gas, and electrical connections) at the customer’s request, such services are provided as a courtesy and not as licensed plumbing, gas, or electrical work.

Customer acknowledges that Off Duty Jobs assumes no liability for leaks, gas issues, electrical problems, appliance malfunctions, or property damage arising from the disconnection or reconnection of appliances. Customer is responsible for verifying proper function and secure connections after relocation. Professional installation or inspection by a licensed technician is recommended.

Oversized or Heavy Items
Customer agrees to disclose large, unusually heavy, or oversized items (including safes, pianos, gym equipment, large appliances, statues, etc.). Items that exceed safe handling limits, or that present hazards due to weight or dimensions combined with stair or access conditions, may require additional crew, special equipment, or may be declined if unsafe.

Accuracy of Information
Customer acknowledges that estimates and service plans are based on the information provided. If conditions differ upon arrival, Off Duty Jobs reserves the right to adjust crew size, time requirements, or service scope to maintain safety.

4. Pricing & Payment

We believe in transparent pricing. Hourly rates quoted include labor for all items listed on the intake form. Specialty items (such as safes and pianos) may incur additional charges.

Accepted payment methods:

  • Cash

  • Major credit/debit cards

  • Zelle

  • Check

All payments are due upon completion unless otherwise agreed in writing.

5. Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled service may incur a cancellation fee up to one hour of labor. Deposits (if collected) are refundable when cancellations occur more than 24 hours prior to service.

If Off Duty Jobs must cancel due to weather, safety, or personnel reasons, the customer may reschedule or receive a full refund of any deposit.

6. Damage Waiver & Claims

Our movers work with care and professionalism; however, accidents may occur.

  • Claims for damage must be reported within 24 hours of service completion.

  • Off Duty Jobs is not liable for pre-existing damage, improperly packed items, particle board or pressboard furniture, or items packed by the customer.

  • We reserve the right to repair, replace, or compensate at our discretion and limited to the cost of service performed

Released Value Protection

  • Unless a higher value is declared in writing prior to service, all items transported by Off Duty Jobs are subject to Released Value Protection. Under this option, Off Duty Jobs’ maximum liability for loss or damage to any article is limited to $0.60 per pound per article, regardless of the item’s actual value.

  • Released Value Protection provides minimal valuation coverage and is not insurance. Customers seeking coverage for the full replacement value of items are encouraged to obtain third-party moving insurance prior to the move date.

7. Liability Disclaimer for Dryer Vent & Detector Services

Off Duty Jobs is not a licensed fire protection contractor and does not perform certified inspections.

Dryer vent cleaning and smoke/CO detector replacement services are intended to improve safety but do not guarantee:

  • total elimination of fire risk

  • code compliance

  • insurance qualification

The customer assumes responsibility for ongoing safety checks, maintenance, and functional testing of devices.

8. Limitation of Liability

Off Duty Jobs shall not be liable for:

  • consequential damages

  • loss of use

  • loss of revenue

  • sentimental value of items

Liability shall not exceed the total service fee.

9. Privacy Policy
